  17. Picard, Riker, Data, Beverly, Troi,  and  Worf are present. Keller is
  18. shown on the viewscreen. Riker, Beverly  and Troi are visibly shocked
  19. by Keller's news.
  20.  
  21. KELLER
  22. Governor Lang suffered a vote of  no confidence from our legislature,
  23. which removed him from office and named me as his successor.
  24.  
  25. PICARD
  26. I see. Well, in that case  I  wish  to  tell you some very good news,
  27. Governor.
  28.  
  29. KELLER
  30. News of the inquiry into the incident involving Doctor Crusher?
  31.  
  32. PICARD
  33. Not exactly. We have yet to reach the starbase where the inquiry will
  34. take place. But  Doctor  Crusher,  who  has  been  studying Phillips'
  35. syndrome since we left your planet,  has  made an amazing discovery -
  36. she has developed a cure for the disease that is compatible with your
  37. level of technology.
  38.  
  39. KELLER
  40. So?
  41.  
  42. Beverly rises from her seat and stands next to Picard.
  43.  
  44. BEVERLY
  45. This means that you can  synthesize  the  medicine needed to cure all
  46. who suffer from the disease, without the use of outside technology.
  47.  
  48. KELLER
  49. Frankly, Captain, I am displeased by these last-minute theatrics.  If
  50. you are  serious  about  conducting  an  inquiry  into  the  Doctor's
  51. conduct, then do it.
  52.  
  53. PICARD
  54. Governor, I assure you that  these  are  not theatrics. My staff have
  55. convinced me that her discovery is a genuine breakthrough.
  56.  
  57. KELLER
  58. Captain, I await the results of Starfleet's inquiry into the Doctor's
  59. conduct. In the meantime I wish no further communication from you.
  60.  
  61. Keller closes the channel; his image is replaced by the star field.
  62.  
  63. PICARD
  64. Not the reception I'd hoped for.
  65.  
  66. RIKER
  67. The man's a fool. We've just told  him how to save hundreds of lives.
  68. And he ignored us.
  69.  
  70. TROI
  71. He used us to  further  his  own  political  agenda, to drive Denarra
  72. Three further away from the  rest  of  the  Federation. Now that he's
  73. done that, he wants nothing more to do with us.
  74.  
  75. PICARD
  76. If only there were a way to get past him. Governor Lang would be more
  77. receptive.
  78.  
  79. BEVERLY
  80. Captain, when I spoke to Mrs. Lang,  she  was at their home. I wonder
  81. if we could contact her and her husband there?
  82.  
  83. WORF
  84. The necessary information must be in  the communications logs. I will
  85. search for it.
  86.  
  87. PICARD
  88. Hopefully they won't have been evicted in the power struggle.
  89.  
  90. Picard notices that Beverly looks very anxious.
  91.  
  92. PICARD (to Beverly)
  93. Don't worry, Beverly, we'll see  to  it  that your outstanding effort
  94. isn't wasted.
  95.  
  96. Beverly smiles.
  97.  
  98. WORF
  99. Captain, I believe I can contact the Lang residence now.
  100.  
  101. PICARD
  102. Make it so, Mister Worf.
  103.  
  104. Lang, casually dressed, appears on the screen.
  105.  
  106. LANG
  107. Captain! I am surprised that you were able to find me here in exile.
  108.  
  109. PICARD
  110. I am relieved that we were able to, Governor.
  111.  
  112. Lang is joined on the screen by Audrey.
  113.  
  114. LANG
  115. As you probably know, I  have  been  kicked  out  of office. There is
  116. little to stand in the way of secession now that Keller is in charge.
  117. My family is fine; we are  being  left alone. Keller didn't even take
  118. the transmitter which I had  at  home  for emergency use, otherwise I
  119. wouldn't be talking to you now.
  120.  
  121. PICARD
  122. I spoke with Senator Keller just now.  I was attempting to reach you.
  123. I wanted to  tell  you  that  Doctor  Crusher  has  made an important
  124. discovery - with great implications for your family and many others.
  125.  
  126. Lang and Audrey look anxious, anticipating what the news might be.
  127.  
  128. LANG
  129. What is that?
  130.  
  131. PICARD
  132. Doctor Crusher has developed a means by which your people can produce
  133. the drug needed to  cure  your  daughter's  disease,  with no outside
  134. technology required.
  135.  
  136. Lang and Audrey are overjoyed. They hug each other for a moment.
  137.  
  138. LANG
  139. That's wonderful news. Doctor, congratulations and thank you!
  140.  
  141. BEVERLY
  142. Your  thanks  are  premature,   Governor.   Senator   Keller  is  not
  143. interested.
  144.  
  145. LANG
  146. Of course. Now that he's gained  power,  he's  free  to do just as he
  147. pleases.
  148.  
  149. AUDREY
  150. He used Sarah to get  what  he  wanted,  and  now  he condemns her to
  151. death!
  152.  
  153. BEVERLY
  154. He used all of us.
  155.  
  156. All are silent for a moment.
  157.  
  158. AUDREY
  159. Is there no way for you to help us, Captain?
  160.  
  161. PICARD
  162. Indeed, Mrs. Lang, I  believe  that  there  is.  Our earlier incident
  163. occurred because I refused to let Doctor Crusher help you. Now, given
  164. that the Doctor's cure is  compatible  with the technology of Denarra
  165. Three, I will allow her to assist you.
  166.  
  167. LANG
  168. But what about Keller?
  169.  
  170. PICARD
  171. What about  him?  You  are  Federation  citizens,  requesting  urgent
  172. medical assistance. He has no right to interfere.
  173.  
  174. BEVERLY
  175. They may not be Federation citizens for very long.
  176.  
  177. PICARD
  178. Then we must act now. Governor,  the Enterprise will head for Denarra
  179. Three at the best possible speed. Once  there, we will do whatever it
  180. takes to cure your daughter.
  181.  
  182. LANG
  183. Thank you, Captain. I will do  what  I  can  to spread word of Doctor
  184. Crusher's discovery. It might force Keller to take notice.
  185.  
  186. PICARD
  187. Excellent. I'm not going to inform Senator Keller of our plans, since
  188. he might seek some form of  retaliation against you.  But I recommend
  189. that you be prepared. If he does find out that we're coming, he could
  190. move against you.
  191.  
  192. LANG
  193. Understood. I'll keep you informed of developments here, Captain.
  194.  
  195. PICARD
  196. Good. Enterprise out.
  197.  
  198. The image of the Langs is replaced by the star field.
  199.  
  200. PICARD (to Riker)
  201. Commander, earlier you somehow convinced  Starbase 117 that we needed
  202. to slow down, giving  Doctor  Crusher  and  Mister  Data time to work
  203. their magic. How would you like to do an encore?
  204.  
  205. RIKER
  206. Convince them that for some reason  we  now need to return to Denarra
  207. Three?
  208.  
  209. PICARD
  210. Exactly.
  211.  
  212. RIKER
  213. I'm sure I'll think of something, sir.
  214.  
  215. EXT. SPACE - THE ENTERPRISE
  216.  
  217. The Enterprise flies at warp speed.
  218.  
  219. INT. MAIN BRIDGE
  220.  
  221. Riker enters from the turbolift.  Worf  is  at  his station. Troi and
  222. Beverly are seated on opposite  sides  of  the Captain's chair. Riker
  223. seats himself in between them.
  224.  
  225. TROI (to Beverly)
  226. How long would it take  them  to  synthesize  the drug following your
  227. prescription?
  228.  
  229. BEVERLY
  230. A day, maybe two. There's nothing difficult about it.
  231.  
  232. RIKER
  233. Let's hope they get the chance.
  234.  
  235. WORF
  236. Commander, we are being hailed by Denarra Three.
  237.  
  238. RIKER
  239. Governor Lang?
  240.  
  241. WORF
  242. Negative. This is from Governor Keller's office.
  243.  
  244. RIKER
  245. Alert the Captain.
  246.  
  247. Picard enters from his ready room. Riker stands.
  248.  
  249. RIKER
  250. We're being hailed by Governor Keller, sir.
  251.  
  252. PICARD
  253. On screen.
  254.  
  255. Keller appears on the screen. Picard stands next to Riker.
  256.  
  257. KELLER
  258. Enterprise, we have learned that you  are  en route to Denarra Three.
  259. You do not, I repeat, do not have permission to approach the planet.
  260.  
  261. PICARD
  262. We are  responding  to  an  urgent  request  for  medical assistance,
  263. Governor.
  264.  
  265. KELLER
  266. From whom?
  267.  
  268. PICARD
  269. From Governor and Mrs.  Lang.  They  have  asked  us to provide life-
  270. saving treatment for their daughter.
  271.  
  272. Keller  is  momentarily  taken  aback  by  the  news  of  the  Langs'
  273. involvement.
  274.  
  275. KELLER
  276. You do not have my  permission  to   help  the  Langs, or to approach
  277. Denarra Three.
  278.  
  279. PICARD
  280. Given  the  circumstances,  I  don't  see  that  your  permission  is
  281. required.
  282.  
  283. KELLER
  284. Such interference would be the  last  straw;  we would have no choice
  285. but to secede  from  the  Federation.  Your  career  would be ruined,
  286. Picard, along with the Doctor's.
  287.  
  288. PICARD
  289. Secede then. I'll take my chances.  But  I  will not allow you to let
  290. that girl die.
  291.  
  292. KELLER
  293. I'll have them arrested. You'll never find them.
  294.  
  295. PICARD
  296. I will stay in orbit until I do.
  297.  
  298. KELLER
  299. We don't have your  sophisticated  weaponry,  Enterprise, but we will
  300. fight you every way we can.
  301.  
  302. Keller closes the channel in disgust; the screen goes blank.
  303.  
  304. RIKER
  305. Shall we warn the Langs?
  306.  
  307. PICARD
  308. Yes, Number One. Mister Worf, open a channel.
  309.  
  310. Governor Land and Audrey appear on the screen.
  311.  
  312. PICARD
  313. Governor, Senator Keller has  ordered  us  to  stay away from Denarra
  314. Three. I have refused to abide  by  his  wishes. He has threatened to
  315. have you and your family  arrested.  I  think  you should seek refuge
  316. elsewhere.
  317.  
  318. LANG
  319. We have already made some arrangements, Captain.
  320.  
  321. Audrey exits from the screen.
  322.  
  323. PICARD
  324. Best not to tell me about  them,  Governor. Our communications may be
  325. monitored.
  326.  
  327. LANG
  328. Understood. I am not able to  take  this  transmitter with me. I will
  329. contact you when I am able.
  330.  
  331. PICARD
  332. I understand. Don't worry,  Governor,  we'll  find  you, wherever you
  333. are, even if you are unable to contact us.
  334.  
  335. INT. GOVERNOR'S RESIDENCE
  336.  
  337. Audrey enters the room where Lang  is  speaking to Picard, who can be
  338. seen on the screen.
  339.  
  340. LANG
  341. I imagine you will, Captain.
  342.  
  343. AUDREY
  344. I have Sarah ready, Richard.
  345.  
  346. LANG
  347. Good. Captain, we will say good-bye for now.
  348.  
  349. PICARD
  350. Good-bye Governor, and good luck.
  351.  
  352. Lang turns off the transmitter and the screen goes blank.
  353.  
  354. LANG
  355. Let's go. There's not a moment to lose.
  356.  
  357. There is a loud knock  at  the  door.  Lang  and  Audrey look at each
  358. other, and are clearly frightened.
  359.  
  360. EXT. SPACE - THE ENTERPRISE
  361.  
  362. The Enterprise slows from warp speed to impulse.
  363.  
  364. INT. MAIN BRIDGE
  365.  
  366. Riker, Troi, Beverly, Data, and Worf are present.  Picard enters from
  367. his ready room.
  368.  
  369. RIKER
  370. Coming into orbit around Denarra Three, Captain.
  371.  
  372. PICARD
  373. Good. Still no word from Governor Lang?
  374.  
  375. WORF
  376. That's correct, sir.
  377.  
  378. PICARD
  379. Will, we need to find  the  Governor  and  his  family. How should we
  380. proceed?
  381.  
  382. RIKER
  383. We can't do much from  up  here;  there's  no  way to single them out
  384. using the sensors. I think we have to go down to the surface and look
  385. for them. It should be easy for our people to blend in with the local
  386. population.
  387.  
  388. BEVERLY
  389. We need to move quickly.  Governor  Keller  knows  that we are headed
  390. here. I fear for the Langs' safety.
  391.  
  392. PICARD
  393. Agreed. Will, I want  you  and  Counselor  Troi  to  beam down in the
  394. vicinity of the Governor's residence. Try  to locate the Langs or, if
  395. they have been arrested, learn  where  they  might be held. We'll add
  396. more search teams as needed.
  397.  
  398. RIKER
  399. Sounds good. Let's go, Deanna.
  400.  
  401. Riker and Troi exit to the turbolift.
  402.  
  403. WORF
  404. Sir, we are being hailed by Denarra Three.
  405.  
  406. PICARD
  407. Governor Lang?
  408.  
  409. WORF
  410. No sir, it is from the Governor's office. It must be Governor Keller.
  411.  
  412. Picard and Beverly exchange worried looks.
  413.  
  414. PICARD
  415. Ignore him. Let's keep him  guessing.  If  we acknowledge, he'll know
  416. we've arrived. If  he  knows  we're  here  and  he  has  the Langs in
  417. custody, there's no telling what he might do.
  418.

  431. The Enterprise is in orbit around Denarra Three.

  433. INT. MAIN BRIDGE
  434.  
  435. Picard, Data, Beverly, Worf, and Geordi are present.
  436.  
  437. PICARD
  438. Has Governor Keller given up yet?
  439.  
  440. WORF
  441. No sir, he continues to hail us periodically.
  442.  
  443. RIKER (V.O.)
  444. Riker to Enterprise.
  445.  
  446. PICARD
  447. Go ahead, Will. What have you found?
  448.  
  449. INT. CORRIDOR OUTSIDE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
  450.  
  451. Riker and Troi  are  huddled  against  a  wall.  They  are dressed in
  452. Denarran-style clothes.
  453.  
  454. RIKER
  455. The Lang's residence is under guard; they  are not there. No clue yet
  456. as to their  whereabouts.   We're  now  just  outside  the Governor's
  457. office. A great  deal  of  confusion  here;  people  coming and going
  458. constantly.
  459.  
  460. PICARD (V.O.)
  461. Be careful. Remember, Mister O'Brien is  standing  by to beam you out
  462. on a moment's notice if needed.
  463.  
  464. RIKER
  465. Aye, sir. Riker out.
  466.  
  467. TROI (to Riker)
  468. The mood here is difficult to describe.
  469.  
  470. RIKER
  471. How do you mean?
  472.  
  473. TROI
  474. I sense a jumble of  emotions.   Some  people  are very upset; others
  475. jubilant. Whatever is happening, it is  clear  that this is no normal
  476. day.
  477.  
  478. RIKER
  479. Anything to do with us?
  480.  
  481. TROI
  482. No, I don't think  so.  Let's  move  down  the corridor; something is
  483. going on just a few doors down.
  484.  
  485. They walk down the corridor.  A  door  opens  and  Keller emerges. He
  486. sees Riker and Troi and flies into a rage.
  487.  
  488. KELLER
  489. You!
  490.  
  491. Keller rushes at Riker and delivers  a  punch to Riker's chest. Riker
  492. staggers slightly. Keller lunges at  him  again.  Riker lands a punch
  493. that knocks Keller to the ground, apparently unconscious.
  494.  
  495. INT. MAIN BRIDGE
  496.  
  497. Picard, Data, Beverly, Worf, and Geordi are present.
  498.  
  499. GEORDI
  500. We have twenty-five teams  waiting  to  beam  down, Captain. Each has
  501. been assigned a target area in or near the capital.
  502.  
  503. PICARD
  504. Good. We'll give  Commander  Riker  and  Counselor  Troi  a  few more
  505. minutes.
  506.  
  507. RIKER (V.O.)
  508. Riker to Picard.
  509.  
  510. PICARD
  511. Go ahead, Will.
  512.  
  513. RIKER (V.O.)
  514. Sir, I suggest that you reply to Governor Keller's hail.
  515.  
  516. PICARD
  517. Why should I do that, Will?
  518.  
  519. RIKER (V.O.)
  520. Please Captain, just trust me.
  521.  
  522. PICARD
  523. On screen, Mister Worf.
  524.  
  525. Lang, Riker, and Troi appear on the screen.
  526.  
  527. PICARD
  528. Governor Lang! What a pleasant surprise.
  529.  
  530. LANG
  531. Same here, Captain.  After  you  didn't  answer,  I  was  afraid that
  532. something had happened to you.
  533.  
  534. PICARD
  535. Sorry Governor, I assumed the  hail was from Governor Keller.
  536.  
  537. LANG
  538. I exposed Governor Keller's plan to suppress news of Doctor Crusher's
  539. cure. The resulting condemnation  eroded  his  support.   He has been
  540. forced to resign. I have, temporarily at least, been put in charge.
  541.  
  542. PICARD
  543. Excellent.
  544.  
  545. RIKER
  546. We just ran into Keller in the  hall.  He  was, shall I say, not very
  547. happy to see us.
  548.  
  549. Riker rubs his side, where he took the punch.
  550.  
  551. LANG
  552. Captain, if you could transmit to  me the details of Doctor Crusher's
  553. discovery, I will give it to our  scientists, who are eager to get to
  554. work producing the drug.
  555.  
  556. PICARD (to Worf)
  557. Make it so, Mister Worf.
  558.  
  559. RIKER
  560. We're ready to beam up, Captain.
  561.  
  562. LANG
  563. I hope that you'll remain in orbit  for  a while, to view the results
  564. of our efforts to synthesize Doctor Crusher's cure.
  565.  
  566. PICARD
  567. Absolutely. We wouldn't miss it.
  568.  
  569. EXT. SPACE - THE ENTERPRISE
  570.  
  571. The Enterprise is in orbit around Denarra Three.
  572.  
  573. PICARD (V.O.)
  574. Captain's log, stardate 46099.7.  The  Denarrans have synthesized the
  575. drug needed to save the lives of  hundreds of their people, using the
  576. technique discovered by Doctor Crusher and Mister Data.  We have been
  577. invited to a ceremony honoring them for their accomplishment. As part
  578. of the ceremony, the Governor's daughter will be the first to receive
  579. the medicine.
  580.  
  581. INT. GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
  582.  
  583. Preparations are in their final stages  for the ceremony. Among those
  584. present  is  Senator  DAVIDSON,   another  pro-secessionist.  Senator
  585. Keller's AIDE approaches him.
  586.  
  587. AIDE
  588. Senator Davidson, hello. Senator Keller sends his regards.
  589.  
  590. DAVIDSON
  591. How is he holding up?
  592.  
  593. AIDE
  594. While he is displeased by the current turn of events, I assure you he
  595. is as busy and as determined as ever.
  596.  
  597. DAVIDSON
  598. I'm glad that he won't be here to witness this pathetic spectacle.
  599.  
  600. AIDE
  601. Just look at who we are  honoring.  A woman who callously disregarded
  602. all our traditions, who  tried  to  poison  our  society with foreign
  603. technology.
  604.  
  605. DAVIDSON
  606. And an android, a prime example  of  the  technology we so abhor. Our
  607. society is lost. It  is  only  a  matter  of  time  before we are re-
  608. absorbed by the rest of  the Federation, and become indistinguishable
  609. from it.
  610.  
  611. AIDE
  612. There is still one chance.
  613.  
  614. DAVIDSON
  615. What do you mean?
  616.  
  617. Doors at one end of  the  office  open,  and  Governor Lang, his wife
  618. Audrey, and their daughter Sarah enter. They walk to the front of the
  619. room.
  620.  
  621. LANG
  622. Friends, let us welcome our visitors from the U.S.S. Enterprise.
  623.  
  624. The door opens again. Beverly,  Data,  and  Picard enter and approach
  625. the Langs. There is  a  round  of  applause.  Riker,  Troi, Worf, and
  626. Geordi enter but remain in the crowd.
  627.  
  628. LANG
  629. Doctor Beverly Crusher, and Lieutenant  Commander  Data, on behalf of
  630. all Denarrans, welcome.  This is a  great  day  for us. A victory has
  631. been gained  over  a  disease  that  has  tragically  shortened  many
  632. thousands  of  lives.  And   this   victory   has  been  won  without
  633. compromising the values that our people hold dear. (a beat) That this
  634. day has arrived is wonderful.  That  we  owe  it all to two Starfleet
  635. officers is incredible. On behalf of all Denarrans, thank you both.
  636.  
  637. Lang leads another round of  applause.  In the crowd, Troi approaches
  638. Worf and speaks to him over the applause.
  639.  
  640. TROI
  641. Stay on your guard, Mister Worf.   I  sense  some anger in this room,
  642. directed at Beverly and Data.
  643.  
  644. WORF
  645. Can you pinpoint the source of these feelings, Counselor?
  646.  
  647. TROI
  648. No, there's too much happening;  strong emotions everywhere. But some
  649. of them are definitely very negative. Be vigilant.
  650.  
  651. Worf moves around the  room,  looking  for  anything  unusual, as the
  652. applause subsides.
  653.  
  654. LANG
  655. My daughter has volunteered to  be  the  first  to receive this drug.
  656. The faith of our family  in  Doctor  Crusher  is absolute. Doctor, we
  657. would like to ask you to administer the drug.
  658.  
  659. BEVERLY
  660. I am honored by this request, Governor.
  661.  
  662. Beverly and Sarah step  forward.  A  tray  holding  a hypo-syringe is
  663. brought out.
  664.  
  665. LANG (to Beverly)
  666. Perhaps you would like to say a few words first.
  667.  
  668. BEVERLY
  669. Thank you Governor.
  670.  
  671. While Beverly speaks, Troi draws Riker,  Geordi, and Worf together at
  672. the back of the room.
  673.  
  674. TROI
  675. Something's not right. That man over there.
  676.  
  677. Troi points to Senator Keller's aide.
  678.  
  679. RIKER
  680. He's Senator Keller's assistant.
  681.  
  682. TROI
  683. Yes. His emotions were very gloomy. But when the medicine was brought
  684. out, he underwent an  enormous  change.  He  was excited, filled with
  685. anticipation.
  686.  
  687. RIKER
  688. Do you think the medicine has been tampered with?
  689.  
  690. TROI
  691. I think it's possible.
  692.  
  693. WORF
  694. We should interrupt the ceremony.
  695.  
  696. GEORDI
  697. No, wait.
  698.  
  699. Geordi taps his communicator.
  700.  
  701. GEORDI (CONT.)
  702. LaForge to Enterprise.
  703.  
  704. O'BRIEN (V.O.)
  705. Enterprise, O'Brien here.
  706.  
  707. GEORDI
  708. Mister O'Brien, this is an emergency. I need a tricorder immediately.
  709.  
  710. INT. TRANSPORTER ROOM
  711.  
  712. O'Brien is at the transporter console.
  713.  
  714. O'BRIEN
  715. Hold on, I've got to find one.
  716.  
  717. O'Brien scrambles off the side of the transporter room. After looking
  718. in a  couple  of  places,  he  finds  a  tricorder.  He  runs  to the
  719. transporter pad.
  720.  
  721. GEORDI (V.O.)
  722. I need you to put it down right here at my feet.
  723.  
  724. O'Brien sets down the tricorder and runs back to the console.
  725.  
  726. O'BRIEN
  727. Okay, here it comes.
  728.  
  729. O'Brien frantically adjusts the controls.  The tricorder shimmers and
  730. disappears.
  731.  
  732. INT. GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
  733.  
  734. The tricorder materializes  at  Geordi's  feet.  He  picks  it up and
  735. begins to use  it.  Fortunately  no  one  has  noticed the commotion.
  736. Beverly is  still  speaking.  There  is  another  round  of applause.

  748. Beverly reaches for the syringe.  She  picks  it  up and moves toward

  752. Now, Mister LaForge!

  754. Beverly takes hold of Sarah's arm. Worf looks extremely anxious.

  756. BEVERLY
  757. This won't hurt a bit.

  759. Sarah smiles. Beverly raises the syringe toward Sarah's arm.

  761. GEORDI (shouting)
  762. Beverly, stop!

  764. The people at the front look up,  shocked. Beverly lets go of Sarah's
  765. arm. The aide turns to leave the  room  in a hurry but Worf stops him
  766. roughly and brings him  toward  the  front.  Riker,  Geordi, and Troi
  767. advance.

  769. RIKER
  770. The medicine has been tampered with. This man is guilty.
  771.  
  772. Riker points to the aide.  Audrey  hugs  Sarah.  Beverly has put down
  773. the syringe.

  775. AIDE
  776. It's not true. I'm innocent.

  778. RIKER
  779. Commander LaForge discovered the tampering using this tricorder.

  781. Geordi holds up the tricorder.

  783. RIKER (CONT.)
  784. We'll leave it to you  to  investigate,  Governor, but I predict that
  785. the trail will lead you to this man.

  788. And perhaps some accomplices.

  792. The Enterprise is in orbit around Denarra Three.

  810. Good news, Captain. The medicine  has  been manufactured, under tight
  811. controls, and administered to over  five hundred patients planetwide.
  812. People are rejoicing everywhere.

  815. Wonderful news, Governor.

  818. Our investigation into the  tampering  has  implicated Senator Keller
  819. and several of  his  aides.   They  will  stand  trial  for attempted
  820. murder. (a beat) On a happier  note,  I  have asked Starfleet to drop
  821. all plans to hold an inquiry into the earlier incident, and expressed
  822. our appreciation for all your help.
  823.  
  824. PICARD
  825. I would like to say, Governor, that  there may be other, similar ways
  826. in which the Federation  could  assist  Denarra  Three, while working
  827. within the constraints  imposed  by  your  society's  beliefs. Better
  828. communication might help us find such opportunities.
  829.  
  830. LANG
  831. We stand  ready  to  improve  such  communication  channels, Captain.
  832. While our concerns about technology  remain,  we  see the benefits of
  833. continued contact with the rest of the Federation.

  835. PICARD
  836. Good luck, Governor.

  857. Beverly points her finger in the air, in imitation of Picard.
